System Construction

As a high‑tech enterprise, the company has built a sound industry‑academia‑research‑application integrated R&D system covering the whole chain of solid‑state hydrogen storage technology. A full‑process research platform spanning material R&D, device prototype development and application demonstration has been established to facilitate the high‑value conversion of rare‑earth resources into the hydrogen energy industry.

The R&D team

The company owns a R&D team composed of experts specializing in rare‑earth materials, structural design, thermodynamics, kinetics and hydrogen energy technologies. Team members have presided over or participated in a number of national, provincial and ministerial‑level scientific research projects, and accumulated profound technical expertise in areas such as low‑temperature performance optimization of solid‑state hydrogen storage materials and device structural design.

Meanwhile, the company has established partnerships with CRRC Qingdao Sifang, GRIMAT Engineering Institute, Baotou Rare‑Earth Research Institute, Fudan University, North China Electric Power University, South China University of Technology and Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology. Such collaborations facilitate resource sharing and provide strong technical support for its research team.

Research Projects

The company has undertaken more than 40 major national, provincial and ministerial‑level research subjects, covering the development of rare‑earth hydrogen storage materials, design and system integration of solid‑state hydrogen storage devices, and hydrogen‑energy application equipment.

1. National Major Special Project — Development of Rare‑Earth Hydrogen Storage Materials and Application Technologies for Ni‑MH Power Batteries and Fuel‑Cell Distributed Power Generation.

This project carries out the design and longservicelife technology research for ambienttemperature rareearth hydrogen storage materials, as well as the application demonstration of distributed solid‑state hydrogen‑storage fuel‑cell power generation systems.

2. Challengedriven R&D Program of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region— Application Demonstration of Solid‑State Hydrogen Storage Materials and Devices.

The project conducts R&D of solidstate hydrogen storage materials and device prototyping, and realizes their demonstration application in NdFeB hydrogendecrepitation.

3. Major Special Project of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region— High‑energy‑density Rare‑earth Hydrogen Storage Materials and Their Demonstration Project for Energy Conversion Technology.

The project conducts research on distributed energy storage of “wind power / photovoltaic + Solid‑state Hydrogen Storage”.

4. Breakthrough Program Project of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region— Application Research of High‑density Rare‑earth Solid‑state Hydrogen Storage in Hydrogen Fuel‑cell Rail Locomotives.

It studies the practical application of high‑plateau‑pressure solid‑state hydrogen storage materials on rail locomotives.

5. Northern Rare Earth Project — Demonstration & Application Research on 10 000 Hydrogen‑powered Two‑wheelers.

It plans to build a pilotscale automatic filling and activation production line with an annual capacity of 300 000 sets of solid‑state hydrogen storage cylinders, a fuelcell stack and powertrain assemblyintegration line with an annual capacity of 100 000 sets, and an assembly line for 50 000 hydrogenpowered twowheel vehicles per year. The project will develop 10 000 hydrogen‑powered two‑wheelers for demonstration application in Baotou. Meanwhile, a 600‑kg low‑pressure solid‑state hydrogen storage & refueling integrated station will be constructed.

Achievement Transformation

The company holds a total of 74 patents including 24 invention patents, covering hydrogen storage materials, devices, systems and other fields. It has led or participated in formulating 6 national standards, 2 industrial standards and 14 association standards. The company has won the First Prize and Second Prize of China Rare‑Earth Science and Technology Award. Its self‑developed low‑pressure solid‑state hydrogen storage refueling system has been accredited as the first‑set major technical equipment in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The company has developed more than 30 types of solid‑state hydrogen storage materials and over 10 kinds of hydrogen storage cylinders and devices. It promotes the in‑depth integration between the rare‑earth industry and hydrogen‑energy industry to foster new‑quality productive forces featured by “Rare Earth + Hydrogen Energy”.

We have developed end‑use applications such as hydrogenpowered two‑wheelers and forklifts, as well as solid‑state hydrogen storage and refueling stations, realizing independent controllability over core technologies across the whole industrial chain. The company has established the brand “Xi Xiaoqing”and advances the pilot project of 10,000 hydrogen‑powered two‑wheelers in Baotou, contributing to building China’s first innovation-oriented city with fullscene green hydrogen self-circulation.
